Fox News Channel (FNC) continued its reign as the most-watched basic cable network across total day and primetime in total viewers last week, according to Nielsen Media Research.
The news network averaged 2.5 million viewers for the week of April 15 through April 21, finishing first in the category for the third straight week, said Nielsen. TNT -- fueled by its coverage of the NBA Playoffs -- finished second with 2.2 million viewers, followed by MSNBC's 1.7 million viewers and HGTV's 1.1 million watchers, Nielsen said.
History, ESPN and USA (all tied with 1.0 million viewers), TBS (953,000), Hallmark Channel (938,000) and A&E Network (936,000) finished in the top 10 for the week.
Fox News also drew 1.4 million viewers on a total day basis to finish first for the 15th week in a row, according to the network. Other networks in contention include MSNBC, TNT, Nickelodeon and Investigation Discovery, said Nielsen.
