BET Networks Tuesday announced it has tabbed actor/singer Jamie Foxx as the host for its BET Awards '09 show June 28.
The show, which will air live from Los Angeles' Shrine Audutorium, will also feature performances from R&B crooners Maxwell and Ne-Yo, with more performers to be named at a later date. Veteran R&B group the O'Jays will receive BET's Lifetime Achievement Award during the show, said the network.
The African-American targeted network's annual awards show, which honors the best performances in music, sports and movies, is the network's most watched event. Last year's show averaged 5.8 million viewers, although that was below the 2007 version, which drew 6.3 million viewers.
BET Awards nominees will be announced tonight during the network's 106 & Park music video/entertainment show, said the network.
