Frankel’s Over The Rainbow

Matthew Frankel, the long-time Rainbow Media Holdings communications officer and publicist, will join The Weinstein Co. later this month.

Beginning Nov. 26, Frankel will work as chief communications officer and senior vice president of corporate affairs at The Weinstein Co. In the newly created role, Frankel, who was previously Rainbow’s vice president, corporate communications, will manage The Weinstein Co.’s corporate profile and communications strategies and oversee the boutique multi-media company’s corporate, trade and business press. Based in New York, he will report to co-chairmen Harvey and Bob Weinstein.

“We are very excited to welcome Matthew to The Weinstein Company. He is a respected strategic thinker whose knowledge and understanding of the entertainment industry coupled with his financial acumen, political background and strong understanding of new media and digital content will be a tremendous asset to our team,” the co-chairmen said in a statement. “We look forward to working with him as we continue to build upon our success.”

During his six years at Rainbow, Frankel headed business press and trade relations for Rainbow and each of its entertainment brands, along with overseeing the programmer’s industry relations and public affairs work. Over the course, he spent time working on initiatives surrounding the distribution of HD and VOD services; the launch of IFC in Theaters and the opening of the IFC Center that replaced the Waverly Theater in Greenwich Village; the WE Vote 2008 outreach program; and the debut of AMC's critically acclaimed vintage advertising series, Mad Men.
