Frankfort (Ky.) Plant Board Adds One World Sports

One World Sports said it has added a new affiliate, the Frankfort Plant Board (FPB), which is the leading cable provider to Frankfort, Franklin County and the surrounding central Kentucky area, under an umbrella agreement with the National Cable Television Cooperative. The programmer has been gaining ground in Kentucky via carriage on Mediacom systems serving the Kentucky towns of Morgantown (Bowling Green DMA), Trenton and Cadiz (Nashville DMA) and Marshall City, Marion and Clinton County (Paducah/Cape Girardeau/Hattiesburg DMA), a representative noted, and provides basketball-loving Kentuckians more access to games of the Chinese Basketball Association.

“One World Sports continues to grow its geographic footprint with the addition of the Frankfort Plant Board in a multi-year, multi-platform agreement, further validating the increased interest in global sports programming,” Randy Brown, One World Sports executive vice president of distribution, said in a release. “FPB’s carriage of One World Sports allows its customers to experience premium exclusive sporting events live from around the world.”

FPB assistant general manager of cable-yelecom, John Higginbotham, said in the release: “The world of sports is ever growing. However, with the addition of One World Sports to our Sports Plus lineup, the world of sports is getting smaller for viewers. Being able to watch games and events being played around the globe is exciting for sports fans and a real unique educational and entertainment opportunity for our customers.”

Other One World Sports affiliates are Verizon FiOS TV, Dish Network, Charter Communications, Cablevision's Optimum TV, Google Fiber, Suddenlink, RCN and a growing number of systems through the NCTC, in addition to Mediacom. The network's mobile app, Watch One World Sports, features a live stream of the network for authenticated subscribers and on-demand content for all users.
