Freston Shakes Things Up at Viacom


Viacom Inc. co-president and co-chief operating officer Tom Freston is in reorganization mode.

MTV Networks group president Herb Scannell -- who currently oversees Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, Spike TV, TV Land, Noggin and The N -- will add Paramount Parks and Viacom Consumer Products to his plate.

MTV Networks International president Bill Roedy will add Paramount Comedy Channel UK and Paramount Comedy Spain to the 71 international cable channels he already oversees.

And Bob Bakish, who had been executive vice president and COO of MTVN advertising sales, has been named to the newly created position of executive VP, operations, overseeing Viacom’s theatrical-exhibition businesses, including the Famous Players Canadian theater circuit, as well as music-publishing unit Famous Music.
