Courteney Cox, co-star of NBC's Friends, will venture behind the camera to direct a new reality series for WE: Women's Entertainment.
Slated to premiere in October, the 13-episode series Mix It Up will help soon-to-be couples or roommates sort out their decorative differences as they move into a new home or apartment, WE executive vice president and general manager Martin von Ruden said.
"It's the reality of moving in with anyone — a situation that often involves conflict, which should make for a very entertaining program and hopefully an informative one as well," added Cox in a statement.
Representatives for Cox approached WE with the idea, said von Ruden, who noted that the network would produce the show for less than the typical $500,000 industry average for a reality-series episode.
While Cox will not appear on Mix It Up, von Ruden said the actress will be instrumental in promoting WE and the show, leading up to its debut.
"She obviously is a natural draw, from her millions of viewers from Friends, and we hope that translates over to WE," said von Ruden. "We're excited she chose us [for her first directing project]. Given Courteney's flair for decorating and her unbridled enthusiasm for the project, we look forward to the final product."
WE — which recently passed the 50 million subscriber mark — will now seek even more high-profile personalities to work on projects for its female audience, said von Ruden.
