FSN Brings MLB Games to American Forces Network

FSN will celebrate America’s independence by letting its soldiers stationed around the world experience America’s pastime.

American soldiers will have access to eight FSN broadcast telecasts of Major League Baseball games on their American Forces Network July 3 and 4. The games being broadcast include teams from across the country, spanning from the New York Yankees to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

On FSN’s “This One’s for You” broadcast -- which will feature the Arizona Diamondbacks at the St. Louis Cardinals July 4 at 7 p.m. (EST) -- the network will conduct live interviews with members of the National Guard of Arizona and Missouri stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In-game interviews conducted by the Cardinals and Diamondbacks announcers will air throughout the game, reaching family, friends and admirers back home in the United States.

“It’s an honor to provide these games to the American Forces Network so they can make them available to our military personnel overseas,” FSN president Randy Freer said in a prepared statement. “These telecasts have special significance not only because of the holiday, but because we are providing a way for the troops to communicate with their family and friends back home. It’s a small way for us to say ‘thank you’ for their service to our country.”

FSN’s telecasts that will be aired on AFN include:

• July 3: Milwaukee Brewers at Pittsburgh Pirates, FSN Pittsburgh, 4 p.m.; San Francisco Giants at Cincinnati Reds, FSN Ohio, 7 p.m.; and Atlanta Braves at Dodgers, FSN Prime Ticket, 10 p.m.

• July 4: Minnesota at Yankees, FSN North, 1 p.m.; Toronto Blue Jays at Oakland Athletics, FSN Bay Area, 4 p.m.; Cleveland Indians at Detroit Tigers, FSN Detroit, 7 p.m.; Cardinals at Diamondbacks, 7 p.m.; and Florida Marlins at San Diego Padres, FSN Florida (joined in progress), 9 p.m.
