There is a new team on the beach.

Fox Sports Net and NBC Sports announced Tuesday that they are making minority
investments in the Association of Volleyball Professionals’ beach-volleyball
tour.

As part of their investments, FSN and NBC Sports will retain undisclosed
minority stakes in the company, as well as holding one seat each on the AVP
board of directors.

Both companies also agreed to aggressively promote AVP telecasts, and they
will extend their AVP programming commitments through the 2006 season.

FSN regional will continue to air seven two-hour telecasts. For its part, NBC
will showcase nine hours of the beach game this year, including live coverage
from Manhattan Beach, Calif., this coming weekend.
