FX Cuts Sponsorship Deal with XM

XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. will sponsor the June 22 second-season debut of FX’s breakout hit series, Nip/Tuck, as part of a unique advertising deal between the two companies.

The one-hour series premiere will run commercial-free with XM as its only sponsor, Fox Cable Entertainment Sales executive vice president Bruce Lefkowitz said.

The deal marks the first time an advertiser has sponsored an episode of a basic-cable original series without commercial interruption, according to FX.

“XM offers 100% commercial-free music, so it makes perfect sense for us to present the premiere of Nip/Tuck commercial-free,” XM senior VP of advertising and brand management Gary Hahn in a prepared statement.

“This is a natural fit for us,” he added. “Both XM and FX are known for offering innovative programming you simply can’t find anywhere else.”
