FX To Debut George Lopez Series In March

FX has set a March 6 premiere date for its new comedy series Saint George starring comedian George Lopez, the network said Monday.

The series stars Lopez as a recently divorced, working class Mexican-American turned successful entrepreneur caught between two cultures, said network officials. It’s Lopez’s first sitcom since his ABC series The George Lopez Show went off the air in 2007. Lopez also hosted the Lopez Tonight late-night talk show for TBS from 2009 to 2011.

The Debmar-Mercury produced Saint George, which also stars Jenn Lyon (Justified), Olga Merediz (In the Heights), Diana Maria Riva (The Bridge) and Kaden Gibson (Review With Forrest MacNeil), will air for 10 episodes with the option for another 90 episodes if successful as part of the production company’s unique syndication model, said FX.
