G4 is jumping on the wave of iPhone hype, offering viewers of its Free Stuff show a chance to win the coveted technology the day of its release, June 29.

Viewers to the nightly giveaway show (10 p.m. EST/PST) will be required to follow the instructions of the show's "simian intern," Lloyd the Chimpanzee, for a chance to win the Internet-enabled, MP3-enabled telephone.

Free Stuff is a strategy to get viewers to stay engaged during commercial breaks. The code needed for entry for the iPhone drawing appears during advertisements. Viewers then go to the network's Web site to enter that code for a chance at the phone.

The iPhone will go on retail sale Friday for $499 for a 4-gigabyte model and $599 for the 8-GB version. Initially, it will only be available for AT&T cellular-service customers.
