All of those numbers, fueled by Galavision garnering all 100 of the top programs among total viewers, dwarf its network competitors in the space.
"Galavisión continues to build on its ratings leadership position by entertaining viewers with quality content while further distancing its Spanish-language cable competitors," said Sebastian Trujillo, senior vice president and operating manager, Galavisión, in statement. "The network also continues to build its audience across all dayparts through the strength of its diverse programming lineup."
Galavision's performance was lifted by coverage of three marquee soccer tournaments, the FIFA Under 17 and 20 tourneys, as well as Copa Ora (Gold Cup).
Eleven of the top 15 programs over that two-month period were futbol matches, topped by the 2.15 million who watched Mexico beat Uruguay 2-0 to win the FIFA under 17 World Cup on July 10 from Azteca Stadium in Mexico City. Galavision's coverage now stands as the most-viewed Spanish-language cablecast in U.S. history, according to network officials.
Galavision's summer performance has also benefited from Mexican sitcoms El Chavo, which claimed the four remaining spots among the 15 most-viewed Hispanic cable programs for the period, and El Chapulin Colorado, as well as sketch comedy La Casa de la Risa and animated series La Familia P. Luche.
