Gaston Tapped to Head MTV Tr3s

MIAMI -- Viacom International Media Networks has tapped Fernando Gaston as brand manager of Tr3s: MTV, Musica y Mas, its network targeted to U.S. Hispanics.

Gaston, who'll take on those duties in addition to his current role as senior vice president, content and creative for MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central Latin America, succeeds general manager and executive vice president Jose Tillan at the channel's helm.

Tillan will leave Viacom International Media Networks for personal reasons, the company said.

Additionally, Federico Cuervo, vice president of programming and production at MTV, VH1 and Comedy Central Latin America will take over in the role of brand manager, Comedy Central Latin America, duties formerly held by Gaston. Both executives will report to VIMN The Americas managing director Sofia Ioannu.

“Fernando is a strong leader who knows our brand and understands how to accelerate the growth of our business," Ioannou said in a statement. "With his proven track record, unique ability to zero in on the audience, and his passion for making great television, we’re confident he will lead Tr3s into the next phase of our growth.

In his newly expanded role, Gaston will lead the content and creative for the company’s music and entertainment brands, including Tr3s in the US, and MTV and VH1 in Latin America. As brand manager of Comedy Central Latin America, Cuervo will spearhead the branding and programming strategies for the company’s adult-targeted brand.
