GCI Does Some Home-State Work

General Communications Inc. has signed a telecommunications-services agreement with Alaska, its home state.

The Anchorage-based company will provide services including long-distance telephony; Internet-protocol telephony; voice- and data-network management and maintenance; Internet; audio conferencing and videoconferencing; and help desk.

The deal extends for 18 months, and GCI estimated its total value at some $10 million.
