Top Alaskan cable and telecommunications provider GCI said it generated $477.3 million in revenue in 2006, up 7.7% from 2005.
The company -- which markets triple-play packages of telephone, high-speed Internet access and pay TV service throughout most of Alaska -- posted $2.9 million in net income (5 cents per share) last year, down from $8.6 million (15 cents) in 2005.
GCI said it provisioned 32,200 consumer and commercial lines for its digital local phone service in 2006, an increase from the 10,300 lines it installed in 2005.
The company counted 86,300 consumer and commercial cable-modem access customers at the end of 2006, an increase of 9,000 from the end of 2005.
The company reported video revenue of $90.2 million in last year, up 6.5% from 2005. GCI attributed the growth in part to an increase in subscribers ordering digital-cable service and renting HD set-tops and digital-video recorders.
