GCI Picks Arris for IP Telephony

Publish date:

Alaska's General Communication Inc. will use gear from Arris to dial into
cable telephony.

GCI -- which offers voice, video and data service using cable, telco and even
satellite connections -- has chosen Arris' telephony-over-Internet-protocol
technology for its cable-voice rollout.

Arris will provide 18 "Cadant C4" cable-modem-termination-system units and as
many as 63,000 "Touchstone" telephony ports in the next five years. The deal is
worth about $25 million.
