Gemstar Postpones Annual Meeting

Gemstar-TV Guide International Inc. postponed its regular annual meeting,
saying it needs more time to restate its 2001 annual report and its 2002
quarterly reports.

Instead, the interactive-programming-guide vendor said acting CEO Jeff Shell
and interim chief financial officer Paul Haggerty will meet shareholders at an
'informational meeting' at the Doubletree Hotel in Pasadena, Calif., Nov.

Shell and Haggerty will likely encounter some disenchanted shareholders, who
have seen their stock drop more than 90 percent in the past two years.

Among the items Gemstar plans to restate: $113 million in imaginary licensing
revenue that it had booked from Scientific-Atlanta Inc. in hopes of collecting
that sum through failed patent litigation.
