GMC TV's July 21 premiere of original movie Raising Izzie set network viewership records among key adult demos.
The movie, which stars Vanessa Williams (Soul Food, Lincoln Heights) as teacher who cares for two orphaned sisters, drew 331,000 total viewers, and set network audience records for a movie premiere among adults 18-49 (165,000 viewers) and women 18-49 (134,000), according to network officials.
The film also resonated with African American viewers. Raising Izzie ranked as the top program among all ad-supported cable networks during the 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. time period among both African American adults 18-49 and women 18-49, according to the network.
"We had high expectations for Raising Izzie because it includes all the elements for an uplifting and positive story that our viewers love and which defines the GMC brand," said Brad Siegel, GMC's vice chairman in a statement. "We knew that we wanted to bring this endearing story to the screen and are thrilled that the ratings clearly show that our viewers share our enthusiasm for this project."
