Golf Channel Pays Tribute To Late Payne Stewart

Golf Channel on Sunday will commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Payne Stewart with a one-hour special.
The Comcast-owned network will air a themed one-hour edition of Golf Central Pre Game Oct. 25 at noon.
Hosted by Kraig Kann, Steve Sands and Charlie Rymer, Golf Channel will dig into its video archives to find highlights of the most memorable moments in Stewart's illustrious career, including: donating his winning to charity from the 1987 Bay Hill Invitational; his passion and patriotism for the Ryder Cup and a look back at his five performances; and his three major championship victories, including the dramatic 1999 U.S. Open victory at Pinehurst over Phil Mickelson.

The special also will feature interviews from fellow PGA TOUR professionals and friends in the golf community who recall memories of Stewart not only as a player, but also as a family man, entertainer, comedian and fashion guru with his signature knickers.

Golf Channel's Scott Walker will visit with Stewart's family at the recently opened Payne Stewart Golf Club in his home state of Missouri, and Peter Jacobsen -- one of the founding members of the band Jake Trout and the Flounders, of which Stewart was a member -- will reflect on their entertaining concert performances. Rich Lerner will pay tribute by delivering one of his essays to close the show.
