Golf Channel Tees Off Open Coverage

Chicago -- Some National Show attendees are extending their Windy City stay
to swing down to Olympia Fields for the U.S. Open Golf Championships June

For those who don't have tickets, The Golf Channel will begin teeing off 18
hours of coverage June 11 at 8 p.m. with its Pre Game Show, now sponsored
by Sprint Corp.

After ESPN and NBC complete on-course coverage, the Sprint Post Game
will sum up all of the day's drives and ducks.

The network's GolfCentral squad will also be on hand with an on-site
set. All told, network officials said, Golf will have 45 staff and crew members
to provide ancillary coverage of Tiger Woods' attempt to defend his crown.

In October, Golf will unveil its take on reality television with The Big
Break ... Who Will Survive?

The 10-week series will pit 10 low-handicap golfers in an array of skill
challenges. One will be eliminated each week until the survivor moves on to
compete in selected professional-golf events on the channel.

Golf instructor Rick Smith and PGA players Phil Mickelson and Rocco Mediate
will serve as co-hosts of the series. Shooting begins next month at Treetops
Resort in northern Michigan.
