Golf Channel has lined up a pilot to move into the travel space.
On Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. (ET), the Comcast-owned network will premiere Destination Golf: Ireland's Wonderful West.
The pilot, filmed in high-definition, showcases host Lauren Thomas on a week-long adventure through seven counties on the Emerald Isle's western shore. Thomas will visit several historic golf venues, including Donegal Golf Club, Connemara Golf Links and Waterville Golf Links and take in the history of the communities and Ireland's night life. The installment is scheduled to encore eight times through the end of October.
Planned for an early 2010 premiere, Destination Golf will be a series of travel documentary shows featuring Thompson visiting many of the world's top golf destinations on a quest to discover unique personalities and experience the ‘local flavor' that defines the regions.
"Destination Golf will provide an excellent opportunity for Golf Channel to showcase some of the golf's best travel destinations in a way our viewers have never seen before," said vice president of programming development Keith Allo in a statement.
