GolTV Acquires Copa Italia Rights

GolTV, the bilingual soccer network, this month announced it signed an exclusive agreement to broadcast all the matches for The Italian Cup’s 2007/08, 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons.

Starting in December, GolTV will broadcast the matches of Italian soccer star teams, including Juventus, AS Roma, AC Milan, Fiorentina, Bologna FC, among others, which will culminate with the winning team on May 24, 2008.

“We are proud to be home to the Italian Cup, La Liga, Bundesliga, Colombia, and the best soccer from Latin America and Europe,” said Enzo Francescoli, founder and CEO, GolTV.

The deal covers live and delayed matches on television, though it doesn’t include other media platforms.

Earlier this year, GolTV reached an agreement with The Nielsen Co. to report ratings in Nielsen’s Hispanic cable service, becoming one of only four fully-rated Spanish-language cable networks accessible to national clients.
