Soccer-centric GolTV will begin its exclusive live coverage of the 2011 Copa Centroamericana tournament on Friday.
Previously known as the UNCAF Nations Cup, the tourney will be held from Jan. 14 through Jan. 23 from the Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City. The biennial event starts on GolTV and GolTV HD as Nicaragua battles El Salvador at 5 p.m.( ET) on Jan. 14.
After the group stage is completed on Jan 18, six teams advance to the knock-out round on Jan. 21. The top two teams in each group will advance to a traditional semifinal round, and the two lowest teams will face off to qualify for the fifth and final spot in the CONCACAF Gold Cup. The third-place match and finals will take place on Jan. 23.
