Gospel Sets Ray Charles Special

Subscribers to the Gospel Music Channel can spend part of their Christmas Eve with the late Ray Charles and a 120-member choir.

The network, which was launched by cable industry veterans Charles Humbard and Brad Siegel in October, will bow Ray Charles Celebrates a Gospel Christmas at 9 p.m. (EST) on Dec. 24, following the world premiere of It’s Christmastime With the Gatlin Brothers at 8 p.m. that night.

Taped in September 2003 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wis., Charles’ Christmas music special includes performances of “The Christmas Song, “The Little Drummer Boy,” “Hark, The Herald Angels Sing” and “The First Noel,” among others. Charles is accompanied by the Jubilation Gospel Choir of Newark, N.J.
