Gospel Music Channel has added members to its choir of advertisers.
Executives at the network, currently in some 4 million homes, said that General Mills, McCormick Spices, Paramount Pictures, Zondervan and Family Christian Stores have or will soon join the service’s sponsorship roster.
McCormick Spices, Zondervan and Family Christian Stores are sponsoring GMC’s holiday programming this month, a combination of specials and artist “greeting cards” -- Christmas vignettes with short messages from artists spanning different genres of gospel and Contemporary Christian music.
For its part, Paramount will use the network to promote Last Holiday, which will be released Dec. 26.
General Mills, meanwhile, in February will sponsor a pair of originally produced short features highlighting the roots of traditional gospel, celebrating Black History Month. "Black History Moments" will feature the careers and impact of early gospel artists such as Jars of Clay, Blind Boys of Alabama and others, while Mahalia Sings will feature rare vintage performances from Mahalia Jackson and comments from the contemporary artists that have been influenced by the legendary singer.
