Content distribution company Gravitas Ventures will look to scare video-on-demand viewers with a monthly VOD package of independent horror films released prior to or simultaneously with their appearance on video store shelves.

AT&T U-Verse TV, Charter Communications, Dish Network and Verizon FIOS TV will offer the Gravitas Horror On-Demand package beginning in October, according to Gravitas officials.

The package will feature at least seven independent horror movies a month that will be available to operators prior to or simultaneous with each film's DVD street date or theatrical release. Titles available in the package include films from emerging horror directors like Kirk Bowman (Bloodsucking Babes from Burbank), Rusty Nelson (Blood Legend), and Kevin de Lullo (Edgar Allan Poe's Darkness).

"We program films that drive VOD revenues while appealing to the evolving tastes of the incredibly diverse horror community," said Nolan Gallagher, CEO and founder of Gravitas Ventures in a statement. "Partnering with major operators extends the reach of these incredible films and therefore helps raise awareness for the leading and future filmmakers of this genre."
