Greta Outfoxes CNN in Ratings

Greta Van Susteren's Fox News Channel debut Monday posted strong ratings, as
the former Cable News Network anchor beat CNN's NewsNight with Aaron
Brown
.

On the Record with Greta Van Susteren generated a 1.5 Nielsen Media
Research rating and 1.2 million households Monday, topping NewsNight's
0.8 and 662,000 households.

On the Record dropped to a 1.1 rating and 888,000 households Tuesday, but
it still edged out NewsNight, which pulled a 1.0 and 816,000
households.

Van Susteren generated a lot of buzz before Monday's premiere with reports of
her new look following an eye-lift procedure last month. The former trial
attorney discussed the plastic surgery during the program.

Van Susteren's 10 p.m. to 11 p.m. time slot was previously occupied by CNN
anchor Paula Zahn, who left Fox News last year.

Compared with the same two days last year, during which Zahn filled the slot,
Van Susteren topped Zahn by 86 percent in ratings and 168 percent in
households.

And compared with last month, when Fox rotated anchors during the 10 p.m.
hour, Van Susteren posted a 44 percent increase in ratings.
