Grupo TV Cable Ecuador Teams With Bireme Systems

Grupo TV Cable Ecuador, the largest cable operator in Ecuador, and Bireme Systems have launched a strategic alliance aimed at helping vendors enter the growing Latin American market.

Bireme is a North Salem, N.H.-based boutique planning and advisory firm focused on Latin America that was founded by George Kassas, who also founded Cedar Point Communications, the VoIP supplier that was sold to Genband in early 2011.

The companies said they’ll help vendors establish relationships with regional cable, wireless and direct-to-home operators, provide technical guidance and a testing infrastructure to help enable new and existing entrants take advantage of the growth occurring in the region.

The key aims of the alliance, they said, is to accelerate the introduction and commercialization of technology into Latin America, provide operators and vendors with a “flexible and strategic forum” in areas such as innovation and targeted investments, and to promote cross-operator cooperation.

“As the fastest growing region in terms of communications equipment, software and services, Latin America represents a tremendous market opportunity,” said Kassas, who is also Bireme’s CEO. “Bireme Systems and Grupo TV Cable have the expertise and market insight to help the vendor community to capitalize on the 750 million smart devices already in the market, and to introduce new technology, content, and smart capabilities.”

“Our relationship with Bireme is designed to use our combined skills to help operators and vendors grow businesses, deepen customer relationships and create key competitive advantages,” added Jorge Schwartz, chairman and CEO of Grupo TV Cable.
