GSN will put its faith in a second religious-themed reality/competition series when it launches It Takes A Church in 2014, the network announced Tuesday.
The series, hosted by 2014 Grammy nominee and multi Dove Award winner Natalie Grant, follows a church congregation and its efforts to find a mate for one unmarried church member, said network officials. The series, which had been introduced as being in development at GSN's upfront, is scheduled to debut in mid-2014.
It Takes A Church is the second religious-themed competition show for GSN: The American Bible Challenge, which tests contestants on their knowledge of The Bible, is among the network’s most watched original series.
It Takes A Church is truly a competition show with heart, in every sense of the word,” says Amy Introcaso-Davis, GSN’s executive vice president of programming in a statement. “With the breakout success of our original series The American Bible Challenge, we have learned that audiences are clamoring to see people following their faith and creating positive change in the world—and if there’s a little romance involved, what could be better than that?”
