Hagopian to Help Playboy Go Digital

Playboy Enterprises hired industry veteran Tom Hagopian to head its digital operations.

Hagopian, most recently with OpenTV, is now Playboy’s executive vice president and general manager of digital media, with responsibilities for the day-to-day leadership, strategic development and management of the company's global online and mobile businesses.

In his new post, Hagopian reports directly to Bob Meyers, executive VP and president of media, and he will be based in New York.

Hagopian, 48, has spent the vast majority of his career in the media industry, most recently with OpenTV, where he served as senior VP and GM of programming and advertising since 2003. His resume also includes entries at Gemstar-TV Guide International, where he served as president of TV Guide Online and chief operating officer of TV Guide Data Solutions.

Before that, he was VP of interactive products with Cablevision Systems and spent 10 years with ESPN Enterprises in several executive capacities, notably the initial GM of ESPN.com.

"Tom's depth and breadth of experience across diverse media platforms will be an enormous asset to our media group," Meyers said in a prepared statement. "Online and mobile are major growth opportunities for the Playboy brand, and Tom will drive our strategic vision to optimize their potential."
