Hail To The Chief: Golf Channel Drives Presidential Ratings

Golf Channel came out swinging with its first-ever telecast of The Presidents Cup, delivering cable's most-watched coverage ever for the biennial event.

Golf  averated a 1.3 household rating for 11 hours of live coverge on Oct. 8 and Oct. 9, according to Nielsen data, garnering 1.2 million watchers last Thursday and 1.4 million on Friday.

The event, in which the U.S. team topped the international squad, also helped the Comcast-owned network set records for its best total day rating ever during a fourth quarter, according to Golf officials.
