Hallmark Acquires Angel Off-Net Episodes

Hallmark Channel announced Monday that it acquired the exclusive cable rights
to CBS family drama Touched by an Angel.

Off network episodes of the series, which currently air on Pax TV, will
premiere on Hallmark Sept. 16, network executives said.

Terms of the agreement were not available.

'Touched by an Angel became an instant family classic from the moment
it premiered on CBS, and the quality of the storytelling is timeless and certain
to resonate with Hallmark Channel viewers,' Hallmark executive vice president of
programming David Kenin said in a prepared statement.

'Touched by an Angel will have an important and measurable impact on
our program schedule, and it is suitable for multiple dayparts,' he added.

Pax, which has aired Touched by an Angel since 1998, said it decided
to let the franchise go to focus more on original programming projects.

'Since the start of our 2001-2002 season, we have aired Touched less
and relied more heavily on original programming,' Pax president and CEO Jeff
Sagansky said in a prepared statement. 'The agreement with Hallmark Channel
frees up resources to develop more original programming.'
