Hallmark Channels continue to drive distribution gains.
Hallmark Movie Channel, which was the fastest growing cable network in 2009, is continuing apace in 2010. The network has added 17 million homes over the past 12 months to lift its total to 35.8 milllion, according to Nielsen data.
Hallmark Channel HD reached the 10 million home makr, following its rollout into additional DirecTV homes on June 23, according to network officials. That brings Hallmark Channel HD's penetration to an estimated 40% of viewers with HD in just six months.
"Our continued success in distribution growth reflects the tremendous value of the Hallmark brand and the demand our distribution team has created for the channel throughout the country," noted Bill Abbott, president and CEO, Crown Media Holdings, in a statement. "Hallmark Movie Channel is on a meteoric rise, with subscriber expansion ahead of our expectations, as viewers, advertisers and distributors all respond to the positive and poignant programming. We are also extremely pleased with the penetration of Hallmark Channel HD, amidst a crowded market. With the recent addition of Joan Gundlach as executive vice president, distribution, I am confident that we will meet our year-end goals for both Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel."
