TV Land's second-annual awards show grabbed 1.84 million viewers March 17, 38% more than the retro network's first statuefest last year.
The TV Land Awards: A Celebration of Classic TV
-- which saw the cast of The Andy Griffith Show feted with the "Legend Award," The Mary Tyler Moore Show cast honored with the "Groundbreaking Award" and Fox's Arrested Development earn the "Future Classic Award" -- also scored well among adults 18-49, drawing 697,000 of those viewers, 17% more than for the 2003 ceremony.
During the telecast, which ran from 9 p.m.-11:15 p.m., TV Land Online (www.tvland.com) registered a 116% increase in unique visitors, lured by the site's synchronized online-companion content, including exclusive red-carpet arrival interviews with host Danny Bonaduce, backstage photos, trivia games and rare photos from The Andy Griffith Show and Gilligan's Island.
The network said it plans to make this content and other show highlights available on the Web site in the weeks ahead.
