Harron Buying Vista III Media

Vista III Media, a two-state Southern cable operator with 33,000 subscribers, is being sold to Harron Communications by Boston Ventures for an undisclosed sum.

Boston Ventures also is an investor in Harron, which has about 145,000 cable customers under the MetroCast banner. The deal is at the definitive agreement stage and is expected to close by the end of the year.

Vista III Media is run by Neil McHugh, who founded it in 2002 and made five cable acquisitions in northern Mississippi and western Alabama.

Harron operates in New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut and Maine and wants to “leverage their infrastructure and develop an even more sizable presence in the state of Mississippi,” Lou Bertocci, a partner in Boston Ventures, said in a release.

Joel C. Cohen, Harron’s chairman and CEO, added in the release “the North Mississippi area has good demographics and above average home growth and we expect to continue to look for additional acquisition opportunities within the region.”
