Oceanic Time Warner Cable subscribers can now use their remote controls to scan the classified ads.
The cable operator, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and Broadband iTV Inc. launched “TVClassifieds” in Hawaii, the companies announced Wednesday.
For a limited time, a TVClassified ad will be included with the purchase of all Star-Bulletin classified ads.
“TVClassifieds dramatically increases the reach of Star classifieds and expands the pool of classifieds buyers,” Star Bulletin president and publisher Dennis Francis said in a prepared statement. “Access is free to TVClassifieds in over 140,000 digital-cable households statewide and over 112,000 households on Oahu.”
He added, “What is particularly exciting is that a newspaper has never embraced a television product as robust as TVClassifieds. Television viewers -- and we all watch television -- can search the entire Star classifieds on TV, at the click of a button. This is revolutionary, and it dramatically reshapes classified advertising in Hawaii.”
Oceanic serves more than 388,000 households, schools and businesses on Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, Lanai and the Big Island.
