In a rare live afternoon telecast, Home Box Office will air the April 22 Chris Byrd-Wladimir Klitschko heavyweight-championship fight beginning at 5 p.m.
HBO will reair the fight, which will originate from Germany, at 10 p.m. -- the typical starting time for its World Championship Boxing events, network executives said.
Also on the boxing front, HBO started its 2006 pay-per-view campaign with a knockout performance, generating a surprising 350,000 buys for its Jan. 21 Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales bout.
HBO’s next PPV event is slated for Feb. 25, when former champions Fernando Vargas and Shane Mosley meet in a junior-middleweight fight. The event will retail at a suggested price of $44.95.
