HBO Hops NYC Taxicab Again

Home Box Office’s America Undercover documentary series, Taxicab
Confessions
, will make a return trip to its New York roots with production
set to begin in July.

In 1995, HBO viewers shared the outrageous, sometimes poignant stories of
actual Big Apple taxicab passengers in Taxicab Confessions, the winner of
anEmmy Award for outstanding informational special. That was followed by
two more specials set in New York and seven in Las Vegas.

"We have long hoped we could return filming and production of Taxicab
Confessions
to New York City," executive vice president of original
programming Sheila Nevins said in a prepared statement. "When you think of
taxis, you immediately think of New York, and there are countless stories to be
told here."

She continued, "We’re extremely proud to have production return to the
streets of New York City, especially since the tragic events of 9/11. The people
of this city are thriving. The streams of yellow taxis are the lifeblood of the
city, and the taxi drivers represent all cultures around the
world."
