HBO Pairs 'Bored,' 'Enlightened' On Monday Nights

Publish date:

As HBO kicks off its fall season with the second-season premiere of Boardwalk Empire on Sunday night, the premium programmer has set the schedule for the debut of Laura Dern's Enlightened and the third season of Bored To Death, opening up Mondays as another night for original premieres.
The eight-episode, third season of Bored to Death, starring Jason Scwartzman as Jonathan Ames, the unlicensed private detective who continues to get caught up in increasingly risky jobs and absurd adventures around New York City, is scheduled to begin Oct. 10 at 9 p.m.
Bored's bow will serve as a lead-in to Enlightened at 9:30 p.m. that night. Dern stars as Amy Jellicoe an ambitious executive at a global conglomerate, whose self-destructive choices, both at home and at work, have resulted in a very public, humiliating nervous breakdown. After an extended stay at a treatment center in Hawaii, Jellicose returns to her fractured life, determined to lead a more enlightened existence. But her newfound noble intentions only ratchet up the drama, wreaking unexpected havoc on those around her.
Enlightened also features Luke Wilson (Old School, Death at a Funeral) as Amy's drug-addicted ex-husband Levi and Diane Ladd (Oscar nominee for Rambling Rose, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore and Wild at Heart), Dern's real-life mother, as Amy's disapproving mom Helen.
HBO will premiere the third and second seasons of gigolo series Hung and fashion world show How To Make It In America on Oct. 2 at 10 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., respectively.
