Yuri Foreman and Miguel Cotto will square off in a junior middleweight title clash in the first boxing card at the new Yankee Stadium and HBO Sports will be there.
Billed as the "Stadium Slugfest," HBO will televise the Foreman-Cotto, as well as Vanes Martirosy and Joe Greene bout live on Saturday June 5, beginning at 10:15 p.m. (ET).
The network's World Championship Boxing team will be ringside for all the action, presented in HDTV and in Spanish on HBO Latino
Foreman (28-0-0, 8 KOs) will defend his crown against the former 147-pound champ Cotto (34-2-0, 27 KOs), who is coming off a loss last November to Manny Pacquiao.
The bout is the centerpiece of the first boxing card at the new Yankee Stadium, continuing the former Yankee Stadium's long and proud tradition as one of the world's premier boxing venues. The ring, along with thousands of additional seats, will be set up in right field for what promises to be a memorable night for the sweet science.
The last time the old Yankee Stadium, which was the site of some 30 championship fights during its 86 years, hosted a boxing card it featured Muhammad Ali decisioning Ken Norton in September 1976.
