HBO Scales Great Wall

HBO Asia will begin broadcasting three films per day to Chinese households Jan. 1 via a nationwide digital-television network, AP reported.

Local digital-service providers in more than 70 cities have signed up to carry Home Box Office’s First Theater, Yang Jihong, a spokeswoman for national broadcaster China Digital Television, told AP.

She said three HBO movies would be shown each day beginning at 8 p.m., chosen from titles considered "appropriate for Chinese viewers," AP reported.

HBO is already available in China in hotels, residential compounds and offices leased by foreigners, according to AP.
