HBO Scares Up 'True Blood's Sixth Season on June 16

Fans of HBO’s hit vampire series can mark down June16 -- in blood.

That’s the day when True Blood -- the Anna Pacquin-starrer, based on Charlain Harris’ Sookie Stackhouse books -- will bow the first of its 10  sixth-season installments at 9 p.m.

The show closed its fifth campaign with a season-high 6.3 million viewers on Aug. 26. The 9 p.m. airing garnered 5 million viewers, with the 11 p.m. encore attracting some 1.3 million more. The fifth-season debut on June 10 scored with 5.2 million.

True Blood's weekly gross audience -- across the premieres, repeats, video on demand airings and digital video recording viewing -- stood at 11.3 million watchers per installment. That was down from 12.6 million during its fourth season.

The premiere of the fourth-season finisher of True Bloodaveraged 5.2 million viewers, while the season's gross audience totaled some 12.6 million.
