HBO Sports will expand two of its main boxing franchises in 2006, Home Box Office said Monday.
World Championship Boxing, which will enter its 34th season on HBO in January, will expand to as many as 14 broadcast dates in 2006, up from 10 in 2005, the network said.
And Boxing After Dark, entering its 10th season, will expand to a monthly format in 2006, up from five dates in 2005.
“Boxing continues to be a passion for those of us at HBO Sports,” president Ross Greenburg said in a prepared statement. “More important, our subscribers are extremely dedicated fans of the sport, and we’re committed to presenting even more action and drama in 2006 across all the major weight divisions.”
