HBO Sports will look at the life of Boston Red Sox slugger Ted Williams in July with its latest sports documentary The Kid: The Life And Death Of Ted Williams.
The documentary, which debuts July 15 -- the day after baseball's All-Star Game -- will focus on the lifelong Red Sox slugger who emerged from a broken home and stints in the service to become one of baseball's iconic players of the 1940s and 50s, according to the network.
"The life story of Ted Williams is a fascinating tale of courage, triumph and redemption," said Ross Greenburg, president of HBO Sports, in a statement. "He was a larger-than-life baseball icon and war hero whose complex personal saga and relationship with the city of Boston took many turns. This will be a compelling story."
This Saturday night, HBO will sound the bell on Thrilla in Manila: Time Tells A Different Story, a documentary looking back at the third Joe Frazier-Muhammad Ali matchup.
