HDNet Adds Arena Football Games

HDNet said Thursday that it has partnered with the Arena Football League to
broadcast live coverage of AFL games in high-definition television beginning
June 1.

The games will be shot in the 1080i (interlace) format, using a mobile
production unit from HDNet.

The AFL's first HDTV game will be hosted by the Los Angeles Avengers against
the Dallas Desperados, and it will begin at 10:30 p.m. (EST).

HDNet is exclusive to DirecTV Inc., although president Mark Cuban earlier
this year announced plans to expand the service to other nonexclusive HDTV
networks.
