HDNet Offers Discovery Download

HDNet is offering free downloads of a special 20-minute HD highlight video from its exclusive live coverage of the July 26 launch of the Space Shuttle Discovery.

In partnership with Red Swoosh and Box.net (www.box.net), the network said space fans can go to its Web site (www.hd.net/downloads) and subscribe to its “BetaFeed” service, powered by Box.net, then find their MyYahoo! or MyMSN homepages updated with the latest HDNet clips.

The network added that the Discovery launch highlights will be the first video it distributes with Red Swoosh's peer-to-peer (P2P) delivery technology.

“The combination of RSS delivery from Box.net and Red Swoosh's P2P technology -- particularly their back-end services -- has created a new opportunity to test the delivery of promotional high-definition HDNet content to those who might not otherwise get HDNet," chairman Mark Cuban said in a prepared statement.

“As unique opportunities come up to highlight our content, we will use this great delivery platform,” he added.
