HDNews Going to the Convention


Count Voom’s HDNews on the list of high-definition delegates attending the Republican National Convention.

The 24-hour HD news channel, carried by Cablevision Systems Corp.’s Rainbow DBS’ Voom HD direct-broadcast satellite service, will be in New York’s Madison Square Garden Aug. 30-Sept. 2.

HDNews’ RNC schedule:

• Monday, Aug. 30, 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 7:15 p.m.-11:15 p.m., with New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) scheduled to appear.

• Tuesday, Aug. 31, 7:15 p.m.-11:15 p.m., with first lady Laura Bush, education secretary Rod Paige and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger scheduled to appear.

• Wednesday, Sept. 1, 7:15 p.m.-11:15 p.m., with Lynne Cheney, Vice President Dick Cheney and Sen. Zell Miller (R-Ga.) scheduled to appear.

• Thursday, Sept. 2, 7:15 p.m.-11:15 p.m., with New York Gov. George Pataki and President George W. Bush scheduled to appear.

Voom will also air a separate 24-hour convention channel dedicated to providing viewers with more than six hours of uninterrupted live coverage each night, which will be replayed throughout the day and night.
