Heavyweight PPV Tourney to Air in Dec.

Eight top heavyweight fighters will compete in a new single-elimination pay-per-view boxing tournament from Australia that will air live Dec. 1.

The event, dubbed Superfighter, will feature a format of four three-minute rounds, with the winners of each fight continuing until a victor is crowned at the end of the tournament, according to event officials.

Fighters scheduled to participate in the event include current unified cruiserweight champion O’Neill Bell, former heavyweight champion Chris Byrd, heavyweight contender Samuel Peter, former heavyweight champion Oliver McCall, heavyweight contender Jameel McCline, former cruiserweight champion Juan Carlos Gomez and undefeated heavyweight fighter Tye Fields.

In Demand, TVN, DirecTV and EchoStar Communications’ Dish Network will distribute the tournament, which will retail at a suggested price of $49.95, according to officials.
