HGTV Breaks Ground on National Garden

Home & Garden Television executives were in Washington, D.C., Wednesday
for the groundbreaking of the new National Garden near the U.S. Capitol.

The network contributed $1 million toward the $13 million federal project,
and it also pledged additional support through programming, content development
and educational outreach, Scripps Networks senior vice president of marketing
Lila Everett said.

Everett joined House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and Sen. John Kerry
(D-Mass.) to plant seeds on the lawn, where the National Garden will open in the
spring of 2004.

Comcast Corp. executives were also on hand to mark HGTV's transition to
full-time basic service in Washington beginning October 20. The move adds 80,000
subscribers for the network.
