While many people gave thanks on Turkey Day, Home & Garden Television also had reason to be thankful the following evening.
On Nov. 28, the night after Thanksgiving, HGTV scored its highest primetime rating ever, averaging a 1.6 household rating from 8 p.m.-11 p.m., according to network officials.
The evening's lineup of specials -- including Room by Room for Christmas, Decorating Cents Holiday Style and Designing on a Dime for Christmas -- attracted some 1.34 million households on average, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
The performance made HGTV fourth that evening on basic cable, behind Turner Network Television, Lifetime Television and USA Network.
The powerful primetime performance drove HGTV to a 0.8 household rating (705,000 homes) across Nov. 28, the fourth-highest total-day measure ever for the network, trailing only the past three New Year's Days.
